Birmingham-based Corporate Solutions Logistics, which counts Lidl, household goods manufacturer Vax and Smurfit Kappa among its customers, has said it is on target to close its financial year with a turnover of £22m.

The Birmingham-based operator, which traces its roots back to removal company DJ Ponsonby, has seen turnover rise repeatedly in recent years from £11.8m in the year-ending 30 June 2014, to £16.2m in financial year 2015 and believes it will hit a turnover of £21.6m in financial year 2016 at current growth rates.

Pre-tax profit fell between 2014 and 2015, from £337,163 to £83,248.

The company also believes it can double its forecast 2016 turnover of £22m in the next three years – and will expand its fleet from 60 trucks to 100 trucks by the end of the year.

Mark Ponsonby, sales director at Corporate Solutions Logistics, said that placing operational teams in its customers’ premises had allowed it to not only grow the size of its contracts, but be “able to understand what our customers want and when they want it”.

“Our staff who work for Lidl for example, talk like retailers, not like logistics people, it’s that blending of different skills and them being with the client every day that makes the difference,” he added.
