Goldstar Transport is set to move to new premises after a year of strong growth.

Reporting its annual results to 31 July 2015, the Felixstowe-based container haulier revealed a profit boost of more than 22% from £1.8m to £2.2m in a filing at Companies House.

Annual turnover increased 18% from £75m to just short of £89m in the same period.

The company attributed its growth to a number of contract wins, the expansion of its vehicle and dedicated sub-contractor fleet and continuing falls in diesel prices.

Significant savings were also made in the year, thanks to the introduction of a new telematics system, with diesel cost, as a percentage of turnover falling from 31.6% to 25.7%.

Goldstar Transport also launched a recruitment drive in the period with total staff numbers growing from 517 to 574, boosted largely by driver numbers which rose from 414 to 451.

In the business review to its accounts, the company said the “main development” for 2016 will be its move to a new depot and offices in Felixstowe, adding: “The new facility has a larger yard space and bigger offices allowing the company to continue to grow.”
