MAN Truck & Bus UK will be launching a retrofit nearside door viewing panel to increase direct vision for drivers at the Clocs progress event in London next week.
The window can be fitted post-registration to the TGX, TGS, TGM and TGL models and the service is offered by John Arnold Commercials, Cordwallis Group Heathrow and PCL North London.
Nick Handy, MAN sales engineering manager, said: “We take the issue of vulnerable road users’ safety
very seriously and have been looking at the best methods to offer this solution to our customers post-registration to enable nearside direct vision to be increased.”
At the fifth Clocs progress event, taking place on 23 April at London's ExCeL, MAN will bring along a TGM skiploader and a TGS with Thompsons Sandmaster body, both fitted with a range of Clocs safety features including: the new passenger door low-level window, warning signage, nearside side-scan system with audible left-turn warning; and 360 degree bird’s eye camera system with in-cab display.
TfL is currently exploring the possibility of making additional nearside low-level windows mandatory on all HGVs entering the capital.
