Royal Mail is opening eight temporary sorting centres to handle the expected rise in parcel volumes this Christmas. The centres will be dedicated to sorting a ‘significant proportion’ of the parcels handled by the firm before they are distributed to regional depots across the country. Temporary operations will be phased in across the peak period and will open in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Swansea, Bolton, Tamworth, Peterborough, Swindon and Greenford, west London. CollectPlus has signed up its 5,000th store to its parcel delivery and returns network. It means the network of local convenience stores offering the CollectPlus service has grown by nearly 1,000 in the last year, with its latest addition in Brentwood, Essex.
