Panther Warehousing has spent £3m on a fleet of MANs to support ongoing growth in the business.

The two-man delivery outfit has added 25 7.5 tonne rigids and 18 MAN tractor units to its fleet, as well as 75 SDC trailers.

Far from committed to just the one supplier, MD Colin McCarthy told Motortransport.co.uk that the group is “just finalising a bigger deal with another major supplier of vehicles”, although he couldn’t confirm which.

McCarthy said the additional vehicles are a result of a strong year of growth for the company: “We grew by about £7m last year, so that’s a 33% increase.”

He added: “Our current clients have grown significantly, but we did have a number of new contracts in 2015 and already some in 2016, so its to support the growth. We've got a new major client coming on board this spring.”

The group’s peak time volumes have also grown significantly, from 34,000 orders handled in January 2014, through 58,000 for the same month in 2015 to what McCarthy said will be 75,000 by the end of this month.

“It’s going well,” said McCarthy, “I think you've got to keep ahead, you get one chance in life. I think what we've got at the moment is working, but we're not afraid to turn something off if it isn't working for us.”
