Eddie Stobart and AW Jenkinson Forestry Products have placed what Scania has described as its largest ever order in Europe: 2,000 trucks over two years. Beginning in March a mixture of G-series 4×2 sleeper cab tractor units and R-series 6×2 mid-lift and 6×2/4 twinsteer tractor units, all with Scania Highline cabs, will be supplied on 36-month contract hire agreements. The Co-operative Food is “pleased” with the outcome of its dispute with around 700 members of staff, which was sparked by the planned transfer of 87 drivers at its Coventry depot to Eddie Stobart Logistics.
Stefan Buchner has been in charge of Mercedes-Benz Trucks since January 2013, taking over just 12 months before the introduction of Euro-6 – arguably the most significant change in emissions standards since the introduction of Euro-3 in 2006. Buchner has been with Daimler for almost 30 years, the first 20 in cars the last 10 in trucks, but until recently always working in procurement or production.
