Eddie Stobart and AW Jenkinson Forestry Products have placed what Scania has described as its largest ever order in Europe: 2,000 trucks over two years.

Beginning in March a mixture of G-series 4x2 sleeper cab tractor units and R-series 6x2 mid-lift and 6x2/4 twinsteer tractor units, all with Scania Highline cabs, will be supplied on 36-month contract hire agreements. The order also specifies 410hp and 450hp SCR-only Euro-6 engines.

This is the fourth such deal between Scania and the joint-procurement arrangement between Eddie Stobart and AW Jenkinson. The first was for 1,000 units back in 2010, and was followed by a further 1,000 units in 2012. In 2014, the pair placed an order for 1,500 units with the manufacturer.

"Scania has long played a major role in our fleet and we are naturally extremely pleased to be once again committing to the marque," said William Stobart, executive chairman of Eddie Stobart.

"We have been impressed with Scania's operating economy over the life of the vehicle and the performance of Scania’s 410 and 450 SCR-only Euro 6 engines,” Stobart added. “These factors, together with the consistent levels of service provided by Scania's dealer network, are the reasons behind our decision to opt for Scania."

All repair and maintenance will be managed by Scania’s Fleet Care department with service provided locally by its UK dealer network.

Scania (Great Britain) MD Claes Jacobsson said: "We are naturally delighted that the long-established relationship between our organisations has not only flourished but continues to grow.”
