Hargreaves

Solid fuels and bulk materials logistics provider Hargreaves Services has acquired bulk earthmoving and civil engineering firm CA Blackwell Group, which trades as Blackwell.

The £11.9m deal includes a net cash payment of £5.3m and the transfer of Blackwell shareholders to a property valued at £3.4m.

Hargreaves chief executive Gordon Banham said Blackwell’s operation is “complementary to and synergistic” to Hargreaves’s existing mining operation, and offers flexibility with its “existing fleet of heavy plant, providing further opportunities to diversify the group’s operational focus”.

Banham added: “We are delighted to welcome the Blackwell team into the group and look forward to combining our expertise to work with them on the growing market opportunities in the UK, including the enhancement and renewal of the nation’s critical infrastructure.”

Blackwell will continue to operate under its own name after the transaction. The company holds an O-licence to run up to 25 vehicles and six trailers.
