Mobile elevated-platform supplier Lavendon Group, which trades as Nationwide Platforms, has terminated its five-year delivery and collection contract with Wincanton a year after it outsourced transport to the 3PL. The contract, inked in November 2014, will be wound up by March of this year with the service returning in-house. Wincanton has signed a five-year contract extension with petroleum refiner Valero in a deal that will see it move more than two billion litres of fuel a year.
Wincanton has won a £60m, three-year milk distribution renewal with Dairy Crest, which will extend the firms’ partnership to 21 years of working together. The deal will see the logistics giant collecting milk from more than 600 farms across southern England and Wales and transporting it, via a 100-strong fleet, to four Dairy Crest dairies. The GMB union has held a protest outside a Marks and Spencer retail store over the rates of pay awarded to agency staff at the retailer’s Swindon DC, which was operated until January by Wincanton and is now run by DHL Supply Chain.
