Employers can ensure they comply with medical requirements surrounding diabetes and driving with the launch of a device that monitors blood sugar levels in real time.

The GSM-enabled monitoring device also receives information that helps HGV drivers manage their condition and according to hauliers’ organisation The Logistics Guild, could prevent future health complications, lower costs and reduce road safety risks.

“This initiative will help drivers manage their condition, reducing the risk of hypoglycaemia and will offer employers a way of ensuring compliance to medical requirements for a driver’s fitness to drive,” said Paul Brooks, The Logistics Guild founder.

“The health of our aging driver population is an issue for all companies in the transport and logistics sector, so we strongly recommend that the industry backs this initiative.”
