Whistl has completed its management buyout deal (MBO) from former parent company Post NL. The MBO was announced in July, when Post NL announced it would retain just 17.5% of the company, as opposed to the 100% it held until now, giving Whistl control of the remaining 82.5%. Abbey Logistics Group made a pre-tax loss of £3.6m for the year ended June 2018, after taking short-term pain for long-term gain as part of its self-set target to achieve an annual turnover of £100m by 2022.
Ofcom is concerned that Royal Mail could potentially cross-subsidise its parcels operation through its letters business, as its market share and delivery network is much more established in the latter.
