Fleet managers looking to explore how zero-emission hydrogen vehicles could be effectively used in their own urban operations can find out what they need to know at next week’s Freight in the City Expo.

Arcola Energy, Symbio FCell and ITM Power are working together to provide a complete package of zero-emission commercial vehicles, on-site refuelling and aftersales support for UK commercial and public sector fleets.

At Freight in the City, the group will be exhibiting the Renault Kangoo ZE-H2 electric van with hydrogen fuel-cell range-extender developed by Symbio FCell. The van is now in series production at Renault and offers a range of more than 200 miles.

The Kangoo on display is one of two currently in operation in Scotland as part of Aberdeen City Council’s Hydrogen Transport Economy (HyTrEc) project, which aims to improve access and advance the adoption of hydrogen as an alternative energy across the North Sea Region.

ITM Power will be available on the day to discuss hydrogen fuelling options, having recently launched a wind-to-hydrogen refueller near the M1 in Rotherham and announced a strategic partnership with Shell to place three refuellers on forecourts in the UK.

Arcola Energy will be able to discuss how it can provide full technical support and maintenance for the vans, as well as hands-on training for fleet managers and drivers to help them get the most out of the zero-emission technology.

Richard Kemp-Harper, business development manager at Arcola Energy, said: “Arcola Energy, Symbio FCell and ITM Power are looking forward to meeting commercial and public sector fleet operators at Freight in the City and discussing the role of zero-emission hydrogen vehicles for city logistics.”

Last month saw the launch of a flagship European project into boosting the uptake of fuel-cell electric vehicles and the establishment of a network of hydrogen refuelling stations.
