Stobart sells automotive logistics business back to Avril Palmer-Baunack

Eddie Stobart’s automotive logistics business – formerly Autologic – has been sold to BCA Marketplace, an automotive support services company best known for consumer brand Webuyanycar.com. BCA Marketplace was bought earlier this year by an investment vehicle formed by Avril Palmer-Baunack- the former chairwoman of Stobart and chief executive of Autologic.

SGN targets fuel wastage by transforming driver behaviour

Gas Distribution company SGN is implementing a driver performance improvement programme across its vehicle fleet following a trial that saw it reduce the volume of fuel wasted through idling by almost 68%. “The company was wasting 13,000 litres a month through vehicle idling alone, but now we are able to provide drivers and managers with visibility around problem trends and the reasons why they occur,” said Chris Stone, head of finance at SGN. Amazon is boosting its click and collect operation by offering customers free standard delivery to its network of 13,000 Pickup Locations across the UK. Goods are delivered to secure sites located at rail, tube and petrol stations, local shops, business parks, university campuses and public buildings, which are then collected at a convenient time by customers. More than 1,100 HGV drivers in the North West have taken part in a one-day Safe Urban Driving course operated by Manchester and Liverpool-based cycle training firm BikeRight! The seven-hour course has been devised to raise awareness of vulnerable road users to professional lorry and coach drivers.
