With the recent management changes at Yodel, Birds Transport and Logistics and TNT UK’s International division – not to mention Greg Lofts arrival at Suttons Tankers - The Hub got to wondering where Tony Leighton had landed.
Leighton was a surprise departure from the position of MD of Suttons Tankers last October after more than four years in the job, which came hot on the heels of the company winning the Motor Transport Partnership award for its tie-up with British Sugar.
He was replaced by Michael Cundy, who has been with Suttons since 2005, previously in the role of human resources director.
The reason for his quick exit appears to have been the fact he’d been snapped up by a rival, with his LinkedIn biog listing he has been a Hoyer employee since December 2014, fulfilling the role of head of business implementation.
Leighton’s professional career appears to have come full circle at this point, as before he joined Suttons he was divisional director at, yes, Hoyer UK for five years from 2005.
His career with the Hamburg-headquartered petroleum transportation group stretches back to the early 2000s.
