The government has given the greenlight to a supply chain operatives apprenticeship just days after it rejected the HGV driver apprenticeship. Moving the ‘Jungle’ camp in Calais to UK soil in the event of the UK leaving the EU would simply encourage more migrants to attempt to reach Britain by any means and could lead to a “free-for-all”, the FTA has warned.
The FTA has called on Eurotunnel and the French authorities to upgrade any weak spots in their security fencing after more than 100 migrants broke into the tunnel operator’s French terminal earlier this month, causing hours of delays to passenger and freight services.
The FTA has welcomed yesterday’s (24 October 2019) news that the EU has approved the extension of two contingency measures by another seven months to maintain road haulage and air connectivity in the event of a No Deal Brexit.
