The Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (Fors) scheme has seen an increase of 129% in gold status members since its national roll-out in February this year.
There are now 87 gold members in the voluntary scheme, which represent more than 21,700 fleet vehicles.
Steve Agg, chairman of the Fors Governance and Standards Advisory Group launched in May, said: “We are delighted with this rapid growth in gold accredited operators. This demonstrates the industry’s commitment to raising standards. We will work with current and new organisations to ensure that more operators graduate through the scheme and that the benefits of Fors are experienced nationwide.”
Freightinthecity reported last month that local authority interest in promoting Fors across the UK had been gathering pace, with Tyne & Wear authority the latest to come onboard.
The Fors website provides online advice on how to progress to silver or gold membership levels.
