Bibby Distribution has unveiled two new longer semi-trailers featuring the livery of crisp and snack manufacturer Tayto Group.

The trailers feature the Real Crisps and Mr Porky brands.

Bibby Distribution said the longer semi-trailers were particularly suited to Tayto’s needs to move a low weight, high volume product and its strategy to ensure on-shelf availability while decreasing its carbon footprint.

Nigel Smith, Tayto’s supply chain director, said: “The introduction of these two new trailers is very exciting for us at Tayto.

"Not only do they look fantastic with their new branding, acting as mobile billboards for our products, they also directly assist us in meeting our goals – which are to ensure our product reaches the customer quickly and in quantity, but also in a way that has the least impact on the environment.”

He added: “Bibby Distribution has always made it a priority to understand our product, our market and our specific needs. These specialised new trailers are yet another example of that ongoing support and highlight the reason why we continue to work so closely with the company."

The arrival of the two trailers follows the snack manufacturer’s introduction of a ‘virtual warehouse’ system, which was jointly developed by teams from Bibby Distribution and Tayto’s Supply Chain and Commercial department.

The system, which has been up and running for almost a year, has seen the removal of nearly 250 tonnes of CO2 emissions from Tayto’s supply chain since its introduction last July.

The new process was developed to allow a single ordering point for customers, removing the need for a separate physical facility, while streamlining the ordering and delivery process. This provides Tayto with the most efficient route for its product from the manufacturing facility to the consumer.
