Wincanton has been awarded a new contract with retailer Halfords that will see it become the sole operator of its national transport contract. Halfords awarded the contract after an initial distribution project which looked to deliver a more efficient delivery management for the retailer. During this period Wincanton also demonstrated its expertise in change management and provided guidance on how Halfords can manage its infrastructure to improve service and efficiency. Argos is facing potential disruption to its UK distribution network, after staff at a flagship DC in Staffordshire overwhelmingly rejected the company’s latest pay offer in a long running dispute.
Next month we should expect to see full financial year results from Fowler-Welch parent company Dart Group. The only hint of the performance at Dart’s logistics arm came on 19 April when it said: “The business remains well placed for profitable growth.” Even the date in July of its full-year results remain as enigmatic as that statement… but there are some clues.
Hermes has been awarded a two year extension on its contract with shoe retailer Clarks, which has seen it deliver three million parcels for the company since it won the contract in 2012.
