Jigsaw has added a trio of pieces to its puzzle in the form of three new partner hauliers. PC Howard, Nolan Transport and Montgomery Transport have joined the consortium’s 10 other members, which include CM Downton (Jigsaw’s parent company), Elddis Transport and the Widdowson Group. The boss of CM Downton has said customers need to be realistic about haulage rates as the economic recovery begins to lay bare capacity issues within road transport.
The government’s apprenticeship levy will come into force in April 2017. This means in just four months, companies with a payroll of £3m or more will be paying 0.5% of that cost into a pot, which UK businesses will be able to draw from for staff training.
