Clancy Plant Hire has spent £1.5m on 24 new Iveco Trakker rigids.
The new vehicles include 14 replacements for older vehicles on the fleet, and nine additional trucks. Deliveries from Iveco dealer Northern Commercials will commence in August, with all the new trucks expected to be on the road by the end of the year.
Clancy Plant Hire runs more than 60 Trakker 8x4s, which are loaned to other Clancy Group companies, including Clancy Docwra for a range of development contracts across the UK.
Despite the company’s “long history” with Iveco, director of plant and transport Bernie Stack said it weighed up all its buying option before signing on the new purchase.
Stack said: “Our research showed us that moving away from Iveco would simply be making a change for change’s sake. The Trakkers offer us competitive whole life costs, strong residuals, and most importantly, they don’t give us any trouble.”
Once on the road, Clancy Plant Hire expects the trucks will be in service for five to six years, clocking up an estimated 40,000 annual miles.
