Cyclists will be able to get an HGV driver’s view of the road at the FTA’s Managing Freight in London conference next month.The conference, on 2 June at the Oval, will cover a variety of issues, ranging from the development of cycle superhighways to Clocs, Fors, retrofitting of safety equipment and penalty charge notices. TfL is still unsure about how much vehicle permits for the Direct Vision Standard will cost, as well as who will be responsible for awarding and regulating them.
The FTA has welcomed amendments to the design of the London Safer Lorries Scheme (SLS), revealed yesterday (29 July) by TfL, however it believes a one-size-fits-all regulation for commercial vehicles over 3.5 tonnes is not the best way to improve cyclist safety.
