UK Mail Group is inundated with parcels, according to its latest trading statement. This in part is due to the demise of City Link.

However, spare a thought for the passing of UK Pallets, which warrants only a paragraph towards the bottom of the release.

“Our pallets business has now ceased operating, following our plans to close the business, announced in January 2015.  The wind down was handled without disruption to our customers and with closure costs in line with our expectations”, UK Mail stated, unsentimentally.

Certainly UK Pallets loss appears to have been Pall-Ex’s gain but the demise of one of the UK’s (previously) nine networks, after long years of stability within the sector, surely calls for a moment's pause in this busiest of markets.

UK Pallets is dead, long live UK Pallets!
