Wincanton has won a home delivery and distribution contract renewal with kitchen firm Magnet.

The deal sees the continuation of Wincanton's two-man home delivery service from Magnet's North East manufacturing plant in Darlington to the manufacturer’s UK customer base. The logistics firm makes around 40,000 deliveries per year of kitchen furniture, appliances and internal joinery products for Magnet.

Wincanton added that it would be introducing a fleet of double-deck trailers for work on the contract to help consolidate deliveries.

The two firms have been working together since 2006.

Eric Born, Wincanton's chief executive, said: "Wincanton consistently adds value to our customers' operations and we are delighted that Magnet has recognised our commitment to continuous improvement and customer care.

"We look forward to building on our partnership and enhancing the Magnet customer journey. "

Last month Wincanton secured a major contract with BAE Systems UK to provide logistics for its shipbuilding operation.
