Operators will be charged for Fors membership from later this year, although the exact cost has not yet been revealed.
It comes after Aecom’s selection by TfL to take on the running of the best practice scheme, which will also see it rolled out nationally.
On behalf of Aecom, the CILT, which is a partner along with Fleet Source in delivering newly privatised Fors, confirmed to Motortransport.co.uk that a fee, as predicted, will be introduced.
“There will be a charge for accreditation under the scheme. The cost will be based on a company’s fleet size and the number of operating centres it wishes to accredit,” said a CILT spokeswoman.
She added that the fees would be applicable to new and existing members and would be based on the costs associated with running the scheme and delivering the Fors package of information, training and accreditation to operators.
No specific fee structure has been revealed though, with the promise instead that it will be made available on the Fors website shortly.
Under the terms of the five-year deal, Aecom is due to take on the day-to-day running of Fors on 17 February.
