UK Warehousing Association (UKWA) chief executive Roger Williams is to hand over the reins later this month to his successor, Peter Ward (pictured), following 15 years at the organisation. The availability of modern warehouses is set to reach a six-year high according to property agent and advisor Cushman & Wakefield – but there are huge regional variations within the UK.
Wincanton has delivered a “boringly predictable” set of results for the six months to 30 September 2013, with group turnover down 1.6% at £542.3m and operating profit up 2.1% to £24.2m compared with the same period last year.
Wincanton has won a two-year warehousing and distribution contract with baby and toddler food manufacturer Ella’s Kitchen. The contract will see Wincanton managing inbound deliveries from factories, picking, packing and distributing five million cases a year to supermarkets across the UK and its growing list of international customers.
