9) Moya Greene, CEO, Royal Mail
The semi-privatised Royal Mail/Parcelforce remains the big beast in post and small parcels, and where its tough talking Canadian CEO Moya Greene takes the organisation will have a big impact on the whole industry.
Greene has a fractious relationship with the postal regulator Ofcom and her private sector rivals, and has had her problems with the unions, but is slowly pushing through reforms to that last bastion of the old public sector monopolies. When the old BT was privatised, its private competitors complained that the regulator kept prices so low there was enough profit to generate the investment the whole industry needed to make in new infrastructure.
If Royal Mail suffers the same fate before it modernises the future for the UK universal postal service could be bleak.
