A combination of winning and retaining business and improving efficiency helped turnover and pre-tax profit at Wincanton grow in the first half of this year. The operator’s results for the six months to 30 September 2014 revealed that pre-tax profit grew by nearly a third to £12.7m, compared to £9.7m in the same period last year. Underlay and flooring accessory manufacturer Interfloor has outsourced its transport to Norbert Dentressangle, in a three-year multi-million pound deal. The operation involves more than 100 outbound movements from Interfloor’s production sites in Haslingden, Lancashire and Scotland’s Dumfries. ND will use a new fleet of 19 artics with cutainside-trailers and 11 (18-tonne) rigids to handle the outbound movements. It will also make more than 500 customer deliveries a week. This does make a big difference to the MT Tracker as Rentokil’s size, in comparison to every other listed transport firm, was distorting the results of the Tracker.
