DPD dartford

DPD has invested £10.2m in opening six new or expanded depots in response to growing parcel volumes.

Additional depots in Radlett, Lincoln and Liverpool have been added to the network, while capacity at existing facilities in Reading, Feltham and Dartford (pictured)  has been expanded.

It will open 36,000ft² facilities in Dartford, Reading, Radlett and Feltham and 27,500ft² depots in Liverpool and Lincoln.

Over 250 new jobs will be created across the new and expanded sites, with many depots relieving pressure on some of its other sites.

DPD claims to have seen an increase in B2C parcel volumes since the launch of its one-hour timeslot delivery service Predict. Turnover at the carrier increased by nearly a quarter to £492m last year, largely down to growth in Predict volumes.

CEO Dwain McDonald said: "The level of investment in our network this year is unprecedented. These new depots are part of our ongoing expansion, enabling us to increase our capacity and ensure we are always several steps ahead of the competition and the growing demand for our services.”

DPD is also currently seeking permission for a depot in Stoke-on-Trent.
