TfL’s Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (Fors) is to be rolled-out nationwide in January 2015. The scheme, which promotes cycle safety measures and equipment, will shortly be placed into private hands following tendering process earlier this year. Plans to ban LGVs from entering London during the busiest times of the day could be adopted by other cities across the UK, experts have said.
Operators entering the capital could be forced to retrofit larger windows in their HGVs’ cab doors at an estimated cost of £1,000 a piece, if London mayor Boris Johnson gets his way.
