Allport Cargo Services is to relocate its less-than-container load (LCL) deconsolidation service to the port of Felixstowe after signing a three-year contract with PD Portcentric Logistics.

It plans to move all of its LCL deconsolidation operations, currently at Tilbury, into a 500,000ft² site operated by PD Portcentric Logistics.  Allport then intends to use the Tilbury site for other services.

Allport’s sea freight operations director Russell Lawrence said: “The consolidation service will benefit greatly by operating out of this strategically selected location meanwhile, the move provides us with the chance to enhance our Tilbury site and provide greater strength to our retail and ecommerce offering.”

A spokeswoman for PD Ports Group said the operator will provide all UK warehousing and unloading associated with Allport’s LCL deconsolidation service.

Frans Calje, MD at PD Ports Group said: “Having Allport choose to use PD Portcentric Logistics in Felixstowe further highlights our experience and competence in the sector.”

Allport recently appointed Charles McGurin as joint MD, replacing Jerry Gray.
