Cambridgeshire transport and storage provider Knowles Transport managed to generate an 11.4% pre-tax profit margin in the year to the end of December 2013 despite a sharp drop in turnover, figures logged recently at Companies House have shown. Turnover for the year fell almost 18% from £33m to £27.1m; pre-tax profit fell over 25%, from £4.2m to £3.1m. Northamptonshire-based Knights of Old has taken delivery of two new Palletforce-branded longer semi-trailers. Both are already in action – one based at its Kettering headquarters and the other at its Hitchin site. The 15.65m long double-deck trailers are part of an order for nine longer semi-trailers in total, all being supplied by SDC Trailers.
