Norbert Dentressangle has welcomed its 100th apprentice to its Carlsberg operation, based in Northampton.

Darren Currie was offered a position on the operation’s customer service team less than 24 hours after he submitted his CV. The scheme, which was launched in March, has a further 70 apprenticeships available and ND is confident that the scheme will continue to expand.

The apprenticeship scheme, launched earlier this year, allows employees to simultaneously earn money and work towards an NVQ Level 2 qualification in either storage and warehousing, traffic office, customer service or business administration.

A further 20 apprentices are part of a separate programme which is run within ND’s UK transport and distribution division and culminates in an advanced apprenticeship driving goods vehicle Level 3 qualification.

ND's learning and development manager, former apprentice Chris Dolby, said: “The response to the scheme has been overwhelmingly positive, both from the apprentices themselves and from the sites where they are employed.”
