Isle of Wight-based operator Steve Porter Transport has won a contract with French logistics giant Geodis Calberson to operate all of its delivery and collection requirements across the south-coast of England.

Steve Porter Transport will carry out all of Geodis’ requirements in the region from its Portsmouth depot in addition to running trunking services to the Geodis hub in High Wycombe.

Malcolm Gibson, MD at Steve Porter Transport, said it was a unique venture for Geodis, which may be used in other parts of the UK if successful: “Strategic partnerships such as this have enabled us to offer our customers a better, more efficient and broader range of services.”

Steve Porter Transport has facilities across five sites on the south coast and operates a consolidation and daily groupage service between Southampton and the Isle of Wight.

Jamie Cuthbert, MD at Geodis Calberson, added: “Innovation and local service are the two fundamental key values we promise to our customers. These values underpin our position as the number one operator in France and number three in Europe and we are delighted to be working with Steve Porter Transport to help us achieve this.”

Earlier this year Steve Porter Transport won a contract to deliver solar panels to the Isle of Wight.
