Brit European is seeking planning permission for a refuelling station for its fleet of dual-fuel HGVs.
It has applied to North Lincolnshire Council to open a compressed natural gas (CNG) refuelling facility at the Junction 2 Business Park in Crowle, near Scunthorpe. If permission is granted, the site will be available for other operators of dual-fuel vehicles to use, as well as its own fleet.
The company has been running 30 Mercedes-Benz Actros CNG and diesel tractor units for its contract with JCB since the end of 2012 and has recently taken delivery of six dual-fuel MAN TGS units, which are coupled with car transporter trailers and used on its various car contracts.
Brit European is operating dual-fuel vehicles under the government’s Low Carbon Truck Trial. It won the Low Carbon Award at this year's Motor Transport Awards.
