CitySprint has snapped-up two more courier firms as it continues its strategy of growing through acquisition.

It has acquired Hertfordshire-based group Letchworth Couriers, which the firm claims is its biggest deal since acquiring Lewis Day in 2011. It did not comment on the value of the deal.

The group incorporates three firms; Letchworth Couriers, Peterborough City Couriers and Ketts Couriers, taking the total number of CitySprint depots across the UK to 39.

All operations and staff have transferred over to CitySprint today (28 July).

CitySprint CEO Patrick Gallagher said: “This deal with Letchworth Couriers is part of our long-term growth strategy and allows us to enhance our service to customers in the local area with the addition of two new service centres. We’ll be working hard over the next few months to ensure a seamless integration of services.”

In a separate deal, the same-day delivery firm has also acquired Birmingham-based Sky Blue Couriers, which delivers time-critical parts for the aviation industry.

Shortly after acquiring Birmingham-based Network Logistics UK in March, the firm revealed that its six acquisitions last year contributed to a 11.4% increase in turnover in 2013.
