Parcel and carrier manager Global Freight Solutions (GFS) has opened a northern consolidation depot in Warrington, a new head office and moved into its first overseas office in Athens.

GFS said the Warrington site, located on the Taurus Business Park, will give businesses across northern and central England the ability to have their parcels collected by a single company. GFS will use the site for consolidation, and deliveries will be made by other parcel carriers.

The firm, which moved 10 million parcels last year on behalf of b2b and b2c carriers, has also relocated its head office from Billingshurst to Horsham, West Sussex. The move will  enable it to set up a customer training centre to show clients how they can get the most out of GFS’s carrier management software.

The Athens site will work alongside its developers in the UK and Russia, and the firm believes it will help bring its services to a wider range of clients and generate more work on the continent.

MD Neil Cotty said: “These announcements amount to the first few initiatives and reflect both the growth which we have already seen and some of the elements which we firmly believe will enable further improvements in services, standards and volumes.”
