Prestons of Potto was back in the black in 2013, according to its recently published accounts.
The MT Top 100 company, which is registered at Companies House as Richard Preston & Sons, recorded a pre-tax profit of £9,873 for the year to 31 December 2013. In 2012 the company made a loss of £237,965.
Turnover at the Northallerton, North Yorkshire-based haulier slipped 3.3% to £18.9m compared with £19.5m a year earlier.
In a statement Prestons said: "We are delighted that the significant improvements in our efficiency has resulted in our 2013 results being such a good news story.
"Although business remains challenging we are currently experiencing much stronger demands for our transport services. This combined with our very strong asset base gives us confidence for the future"
