A fire that destroyed stock at Asos’s Norbert Dentressangle-operated DC in Barnsley is currently under investigation by police. The fire broke out on Friday evening (20 June) at the DC and forced the online retailer to stop taking orders until 2am this morning whilst the warehouse was cleaned up. A “buoyant” UK logistics market helped Norbert Dentressangle (ND) boost overall third quarter 2012 revenue by 10% to €2.9bn. Turnover growth was reported across all three of ND’s business divisions, with much of this down to the acquisition of new business. Logistics revenue for Q3 2012 increased 6.4% compared to Q3 2011, with like-for-like income up 2%. Year-to-date, logistics division revenue is 13.7% ahead at €1.3bn (2011: €1.15bn).
