Bibby Distribution Services is to change its name to Bibby Supply Chain Services following its return to profitability in 2013.

As exclusively revealed by Motortransport.co.uk yesterday, the  operator, part of Bibby Line Group, returned a profit for the financial year ended 31 December 2013 after it suffered a loss in its subsidiary System Training in 2012.

Bibby Distribution Services (Holdings) turned a pre-tax loss of £4.6m in 2012 into a pre-tax profit of £4.6m in 2013. Turnover was broadly flat at £252m, compared with £255m in 2012.

Now, alongside changing its trading name, it will also form Bibby International Logistics as a separate freight-forwarding subsidiary.

Furthermore, sister Bibby Line Group company Bibby Ship Management is to fold into Bibby Supply Chain Services. The company described the change as a “response to overall growth in the business” and it could now offer what it called a "entire range of logistics and distribution services, recruitment, training and asset management" in nine countries.

Iain Speak, CEO of Bibby Supply Chain Services, said: “We are pleased with our improved performance in 2013 and look forward to building upon that with the establishment of Bibby Supply Chain Services, which allows us to offer a wider range of services to our customers across a wider international basis.”
