Last year County Antrim’s Ballyvesey Holdings bought Bird’s Groupage Services (now Birds Transport and Logistics).

Now the Birmingham operator finds itself with a new MD: John Hawksworth, formerly commercial director at Leicester’s Widdowson Group.

Hawksworth replaces Robin Davies, whom the board thanks for his “hard work leading the team during the post acquisition transitionary period”.

Motortransport.co.uk met up with Hawksworth a couple of years ago now (it does seem shorter) – and we concluded that interview with him saying: “There are always opportunities.”

Turns out that there are… and we look forward to meeting up with him again.

It’s not the only senior management change at Ballyvesey.

James Darragh has joined the board of Ballyvesey Holdings as HR and compliance director. He has been with the group for some years focusing on HR and compliance.

Mark Montgomery has also joined the board of directors of Ballyvesey Holdings.

According to Ballyvesey, Montgomery has “worked in an operational capacity for a number of group companies including Truck and Plant, Montgomery Refrigerated and, more recently, Montgomery Distribution”.

Finally Stephen Marshall has joined Ballyvesey as director and general manager of Montgomery Transport Group.

Returning to the fold after a short absence, having previously worked for Montgomery Distribution, Marshall will be “working closely with Harold Montgomery over the coming months as he settles into his new role”.
