DHL Supply Chain is to put 14.6m longer semi-trailers into service on 50 Lidl delivery routes across the UK. DHL Express almost doubled its UK pre-tax profit last year thanks to a significant rise in inbound volumes and an increase in its share of the global express market.
DHL is to close its Coventry depot, which it runs on behalf of retailer J Sainsbury, in a move that places 550 jobs at risk. Labour is calling on the government to “reverse its reckless decision” to give the go-ahead for a ten-year trial of longer semi-trailers.
