County Dublin family-run haulier Dixon International has switched to Michelin X Line Energy tyres across its 110-strong truck fleet after a trial revealed significant fuel savings.
Us of the X Line tyres in a six month trial involving six tractive units on international work demonstrated an average 5.2% fuel saving.
Director Michael Dixon said the firm used around 500,000 litres of fuel a month and should save more than 300,000 litres a year once the whole fleet had been converted to the new rubber – more than its total annual truck tyre billas stands.
It is also introducing Michelin X Line Energy tyres to its trailers, starting with 30 new Schmitz Cargobull units it is currently awaiting.
