UPS has acquired temperature-controlled operator Polar Speed for an undisclosed sum. The Leighton Buzzard-based operator, which runs a mixture of 118 temperature-controlled HGVs and vans for customers in the pharmaceutical sector, has been added to UPS’s healthcare operation across Europe. Both UPS and the FTA have raised “serious concerns” with the Scottish government about its proposal to introduce a blanket Euro-6 low emission zone (LEZ) strategy across the country.
UPS and TNT Express have submitted remedies to the European Commission to address its competition concerns, extending the review period further. The submission extends the EC’s review period by 15 business days to 5 February 2013. The proposed remedies involve the sale of the business activities and its assets.
