Poundland has ordered 35 Volvo trucks

High street retailer Poundland has added 35 Volvos to its own-account fleet to replace existing vehicles and support its store opening programme.

The order, via the Wallsall branch of the Hartshorne Group, consists of 27 FH 6x2 tractor units, three FM 6x2 rigids and five FL 4x2 18-tonne rigids, most of which have been delivered.

Many of the Poundland-liveried trucks will operate from the retailer’s head office in Willenhall, West Midlands, and are on full service and maintenance contracts with the dealership.

Andy Monk, supply chain director at Poundland, said: “We have a good relationship with Hartshorne and work closely with it to ensure we have the right fleet to serve our expanding retail estate.”

Poundland is a predominantly own-account operator, but all of its transport operations in the South East are operated by DHL Supply Chain.
