Turnover at Boughey Distribution fell during the first half of its current financial year, despite winning a number of long-term contracts.

Results for the half year to 30 November 2013, published by parent company NWF Group, showed a 2.1% decline in turnover at the food distribution arm to £18.5m (H1 2012: £18.9m).

Average pallet storage volumes increased slightly to 102,000 during the period compared to 95,000 the year before, which the parent company said was higher than anticipated.

Boughey also transferred customers from its site in Deeside to its main operating site in Wardle, Greater Manchester. It will completely close the Deeside facility in mid-2014 as part of its plans to improve efficiency.

Performance at its fuels division NWF Fuels was ‘on plan’ as turnover rose marginally from £171.4m in H1 2012 to £172.2m in 2013, off the back of a 1.6% increase in volumes.

Group turnover increased slightly to £259.1m in the period, up from £256.5m in the first half of 2012.

Chairman Mark Hudson said the group has made further progress since the end of November.

“NWF has delivered a very solid set of results in the first half, with the performance of the group and each of the operating divisions in line with the board’s expectations," he said.
