Scottish general haulier and Palletline member RT McEwan is poised to open a second site in Dundee.

The family firm, which has up to now operated from a single depot in Arbroath, is aiming to start operations at the new site in Noble Road, on the Wester Gourdie Industrial Estate in the second week of February.

RT McEwan, which covers Tayside, Fife, East Perthshire and the town of Angus for pallet network Palletline, will be able to offer additional warehousing capacity as a result of the move as well as later collection and earlier delivery times, the company's general manager Neil McEwan told Motortransport.co.uk.

The firm, which currently runs 22 trucks and 30 trailers but has a licence for up to 30 trucks and 45 trailers, has recently applied for an additional eight trucks and four trailers based at the new site.

McEwan said the firm’s membership of Palletline, which dates back to early 2011, had “opened a lot of doors” for it, including on the general haulage side. “The two work quite well together,” he confirmed.

Palletline MD Kevin Buchanan said: “It’s always great to see hauliers doing well, especially when their success is so clearly deserved. RT McEwan has been a cornerstone of our network and we wish them the very best for their new site.”
