Temperature-controlled specialist Nagel-Langdons is investing £5.5m in a new 54,000ft² warehouse for its Scottish operation. The 10-acre site – located on the Eurocentral Business Park, near Motherwell in Lanarkshire – will include chilled and frozen chambers with all-pallet access racking for up to 1,500 pallets, with its cross-docking platform capable of handling more than 500 pallets per hours. Temperature controlled supply chain specialist Nagel Langdons saw its turnover increase by 11% year-on-year, but its margins contract slightly as it sought to maintain service levels for customers.
Langdons has taken on two more trailers from Gray & Adams to boost its urban delivery operations in cities in Scotland. The trailers are equipped with Anteo tuck-under tail-lifts, Whiting roller shutter doors and the latest Thermo-King Spectrum fridge units to cope with urban deliveries. The tractor units can also operate on overnight trunk routes using standard length trailers, resulting in greater operational efficiency.
