The boss of one of the largest own-account fleets in the country, Morrisons, has launched a robust defence of the longer semi-trailer trial claiming it has helped it deliver a 6.5% productivity saving since the trial began. DHL has beaten rivals in a competitive tender to win a six-year national fuel distribution contract renewal with supermarket Morrisons.
Morrisons has confirmed plans to close the transport operation at its Swan Valley DC in Northampton, bringing in third parties to handle deliveries from the site.
Morrisons has been using a variety of vehicles supplied by Burnt Tree’s temperature-controlled rental business Refrigerental to support the opening of its M Local convenience stores.
