The Communication Workers Union (CWU) has scheduled talks with Royal Mail every day this week to try to reach an agreement ahead of planned strike action next week (4 November).
The talks come in addition to three days of negotiations last week and follow the CWU issuing the operator with a formal notification of 24-hour strike action on Monday (28 October).
The union said the strike will take place if no agreement is reached by the end of this week, affecting all non-managerial positions at Royal Mail and Parcelforce.
CWU deputy general secretary Dave Ward said: "Our members have clearly spoken that they care more about their jobs than they do about shares. It's important that we secure a legally-binding, lasting agreement which will tackle the big issues facing postal workers in their work lives.”
Royal Mail said it considers any industrial action “damaging”.
