Yusen Logistics has renewed its contract with Nissan Motor Manufacturing (UK), a contract it has held since 2008. Meachers Global Logistics has won a major contract renewal with cruise ship operator Carnival UK, following a competitive tender process. The Southampton-based operator’s relationship with Carnival stretches back 14 years, and Meachers already manages the company’s supply chain for its vessel fleet. This includes providing inventory control, warehousing, consolidation, pick and pack, and back office support services. Yusen Logistics has begun trading out of its specialist automotive centre in Tamworth, building on volumes out of its operation at Burnaston, near Derby. The 81,000ft² site, adjacent to the M42, offers decanting, crossdocking, stockholding and sequencing operations from first and second tier automotive parts manufacturers serving Yusen’s major car manufacturing clients.
