Paul Day, MD at Turners (Soham), has described the group’s purchase of hazardous logistics specialist Lewis Tankers last month as being “all about growth”.

Day said the deal would give Turners access to new markets in chemical and gas beyond fuel distribution, and there was no operational duplication.

“The business is a good fit, with great staff and a strong reputation,” he told MT. “There won’t be any redundancies,” he confirmed.

Turners general manager Colin Rutherford is heading up the newly acquired operation, working alongside Lewis Tankers MD Stewart MacDonald, who will remain with the business.

MacDonald said Turners will bring financial strength and a strong team to Lewis Tankers’ operations.
